Archie P. Brake, 20, telegraph operator, died attempting to save Dorothy V. Bruce, 20, from drowning, Iowa Falls, Iowa, July 13, 1909. Brake dived from a launch into the Iowa River to assist Miss Bruce, who had been knocked overboard. As he was about to grasp her, he sank, simultaneously with the disappearance of Miss Bruce. 4484-356
